Tea Comfort Madrona Island Series Book 2 edition by Andrea Hurst Literature Fiction eBooks

I was having some unhappy thoughts with this book. First, the heroine was a beautiful model, she has it all. Her boyfriend proposes and she is over the moon in love with the love of her life, she couldn't be happier. The next day she gets results of test from her doctor and it is not good, she has lupus. So the story takes up 2 years later when she is running a holistic herb shop on a small island off the northwest coast. She is single.

The hero of the story comes from a wealthy family but he seems to be his own man. He was over the top in love with the woman of his dreams, she is beautiful, talented, gracious and kind. He loves her above all else and just wants to spend the rest of his life with her. he proposes on the beach on a beautiful night. She accepts.

The story really starts 2 years later. I have to say that this will be SPOILERS so you may want to stop reading now. I did not like this woman. First, she accepts the proposal and she loves the guy but she decides to disappear without a word except to say don't look for her. She doesn't discuss her illness with him, she doesn't tell him that she came from very "bad" roots, her family being so much lower status than his, etc. She just drops off the face of the earth and leaves him to try and find out what happened. He blamed his parents because they didn't like her, he figures they bought her off to get out of his life. Didn't have much faith in her and she didn't have much faith in him.

What she did was wrong on so many levels but here is what turned me off her. When they meet again after two years, she has led her friends to believe HE IS THE BAD guy. they naturally think the worse. When they cross paths she treats him like a jerk. He still has no idea what is going on or why she left. So HE is the bad guy and when he sees her and sets up a luncheon date for her to explain what happened, she still doesn't tell him but tells him his brother called her and told her about a "fiancé that was returning to the states and he would be going back to her!" Now, she didn't get along with this brother at all, so naturally she believes everything he tells her without ever asking the hero about it! DUMB. Course I didn't say she was smart! Just pretty. But anyway, she sort of shifts things to blame him for everything. He storms out and she figures HE OWES her an apology. This gal was a witch. She never even gave him the option of saying her illness was not a problem for him or telling her to take a hike. She took that option away from him and then blames him. I just couldn't stand her. I was really getting to that point of stopping reading when I decided to go back and read some of the other reviews. I didn't read any that had the same problem I did but I did read one that said ...the story doesn't end you have to get the next book to see how things go. SO, A CLIFFHANGER TO BOOT. That made my mind up for me. I do not like cliffhangers regardless. They put WAR and PEACE in one book, I figure a romance novel can do the same. So, I gave up on this one and no I would not recommend it unless you don't mind cliffhangers and heroines that are of the witch variety. Definitely not for me.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 8/15/17

9/6/117 I received a comment from the author and she said this book didn't end with a cliffhanger. I did not read it to the end, I read it didn't end by another reviewer! The author says that the heroine's story did end. I wanted to add this so that you will know what the author said.

Tea Comfort Madrona Island Series Book 2 edition by Andrea Hurst Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Nothing happened in Andrea Hurst’s “Tea and Comfort.” Absolutely nothing. The mundanity brought tears to my eyes. I finally threw in the towel at around 50% (don’t even ask me how I got that far) when the author started describing, in minute detail, everything about a Christmas parade. I’m not that into parades in real life, so having to read about one in detail was yawn inspiring, to say the least.

Kyla (previously known as Darcy), was a model in New York City with a successful career and super hot boyfriend (Luke). One day, she abruptly drops off the face of the earth with nary an explanation to anyone, including the alleged love of her life. When we catch up with her, she’s Kyla, the purveyor of a tea shop in Washington state, where she spends her days drinking tea and sprinkling lavender on just about everything. Luke shows up after buying a nearby winery and they get back together after spending a few pages catching up. Apparently Luke’s brother was instrumental to Kyla’s initial disappearance.

There’s no trust here, because as soon as the evil brother opens his mouth, Kyla takes off. This happens at least twice. If someone was the love of my life, I’d at least talk to him before dumping his ass, but that’s just me, so meh. Anyway, majorly lost interest and skimmed the rest. Nothing else happened.

I’m so mad I got past the 50% mark. It was like eating a plateful of high calorie food that I didn’t even enjoy. What a waste of calories. What a waste of brain cells. This was a one star read for me. I want my life back.
Another fairly slow start. A beautiful model has it all including a love with an almost too-good-to-be true hunk whose family is obscenely social register wealthy. He proposes. She accepts. They are over the moon. A few days later, she disappears suddenly leaving only the message, don’t look for me. He can’t accept her disappearing from his life and spends two years looking for her. This is where the story really begins a chapter or two in. It is easy to get frustrated with this character. Sometimes she doesn’t make sense, while the hero is mostly stellar except for a few bumps. There were some editing issues. It is a good pass-the-time read.
Romance is in the air. Sometimes love can be messy and not go as planned. In this book that ius certainly the case. This is book 2 of series but u
It can be read as a stand alone book.
For fans of the old "Fantasy Island" or "Loveboat" tv series.,this is for you . Wealthy young man persuades troubled model who runs away to the island and opens a tea and herbal gift shop. Not much realism but a predictable happy ever after ending with the cliff hanger for one character leading to another story in the series.
So, we have a whiny, entitled gorgeous New York supermodel who becomes engaged to be married to the love of her life and immediately finds out she has lupus. Instead of doing the mature thing and discussing it with her fiance, she suddenly skips town, leaving a note for him not to look for her. The poor guy doesn't know which end is up. Down the line, he happens to show up in the Pacific NorthWest with intentions of buying a winery. Who does he run into but the drama queen herself who demands apologies from him because his presence has made her upset. Yep, he apologizes and is put on the defensive. Needless to say, they wind up getting married after she drives him nuts with her vacillations. For a supposed zen-like girl who owns Tea & Comfort, this is one high maintenance chick. Repetitious, shallow, inane, poorly written, melodramatic, contrived, immature, predictable. The story does not end. It stops. One paragraph she's having doubts about the wedding, the next she's at the ceremony smiling. That's it. That's how it ends. Who cares? Such an unsympathetic character, I was hoping the groom would leave her in the dust.
