A New York Times best seller. Millions of people worldwide know Chuck Norris as the star of more than twenty motion pictures, a martial arts expert, and the only man in the Western Hemisphere to hold an eighth degree Black Belt Grand Master in Tae Kwon Do. Countless others see him daily in syndicated reruns as the hero of the longest running CBS series to date, “Walker, Texas Ranger.” What many don’t know is that Chuck Norris is a sincere Christian–a man whose faith plays a role in everything he does. Against All Odds is the inspirational story of how Norris overcame abject poverty from childhood, the effects of his father’s alcoholism and desertion of the family, and his own shyness and lack of strength and ability early in his life. Norris writes candidly about the past and gives God full credit for where he is today

When you watch Chuck Norris' exercise-machine commercial on TV,who do you think he really is? Salesman? Actor? Athlete? Teacher?
Political conservative? Christian organizer? He is all of those things and,
from welfare-child beginnings, continues an active career into his '70s.
Norris' stardom was not created by cameras and press agents, it was
earned through determination, character and working with others who
could visualize his future. In the 1960s, he was an undefeated contender
for the world middleweight karate championship, which he won and held
for six years. Then, he was sought by Bruce Lee to play a worthy
rival in his movie, "Return of the Dragon". Penniless at the time,
Norris became a karate studio owner, operator and instructor. Steve
McQueen became his student. Name and talent recognition led him to
movie and TV stardom. Being the star of a hit TV series for eight years
made him an icon. So, who is he now? Does he resemble Walker,
the Texas Ranger? Yes, the story rings true. He claims not to be an
actor, says he's still an old karate instructor. Yet, he created and
developed Walker as a mirror of himself - not the cowboy, but a man
with similar old-fashioned beliefs, attitudes and moral values. His final
book chapter expands upon those ideas and the writing is beautiful.

Against All Odds eBook Chuck Norris Ken Abraham Reviews
I've been sick for a while. The lucky recipient of several rare diseases. Haven't been able to do much but recently started tai chi at turning years of age. I've become interested in the martial arts philosophy. I just stumbled upon this book. Didn't expect much but what a surprise. I think I've only seen one of his movies but I plan on getting to know more about Mr Norris through his work. It's rare to read a book where someone genuine good character and moral values actually are inspiring. I may not, actually, I'll never be able to be like him but I definitely have added Mr Norris to my list of people I want to emulate. Thank you for such a candid, honest and heartwarming book. God bless
AGAINST ALL ODDS is of course the autobiography of Chuck Norris, one of the most charismatic action stars of all time. But while this book does tell the story of Mr. Norris's entry into action cinema and his rise to movie stardom, much more material is devoted to his family life, legendary martial arts career, the development of his personal faith, and a never-ending optimism based on the idea that if you work hard and have a positive attitude, you can achieve your dreams, whatever they may be. Mr. Norris is a devout Christian, and as such never shies away from his personal testimony, which only makes his life story all the more inspirational and appealing. Particularly touching is Mr. Norris's account of learning of his brother's death in Vietnam, an experience which left him with an unyielding admiration for America's veterans, which of course shines through in one of his most famous films, MISSING IN ACTION. The life story of a great American who never stops dreaming and who urges his readers to do the same, AGAINST ALL ODDS is as engrossing as it is uplifting.
Almost everybody likes Chuck Norris. It's just the way it is. He's a likable guy. I remember sitting at a drive in theater watching Norris and Lee in the best fight you could see on film in the Coliseum. I've always liked his persona. I'm not too sure I like this book. The best parts were the info on the tournaments he participated in. He very believably related the tactics to fighting. Parts of this book really bug me. He has a chapter about that POS Total Gym. He had a whole chapter in the book and it read just like a script for a TV ad. His admission that he screwed around on his wife (who was awaiting his return from overseas military duty at the time) really made me think bad of him. He went to Korea for two years unaccompanied as they say in the military. Of course like all young guys he got married not long before he split for overseas. So when he comes back the little wife is preparing an apartment for the two of them. He shows his appreciation by cheating on her. He may have been man enough to open up and admit it but he only did it after a Daughter showed up and claimed to be his kid. Norris is human and people make mistakes. But that's the kind of poor judgement that makes me stand back from someone. I do like Chuck Norris and will continue to watch his movies. I do not recommend reading this book if any of the stuff I mentioned would cause you to dislike Norris.
There is so much more to Mr. Chuck Norris the meets the eye. Beyond the physical attributes and martial arts successes, there are the "Holkywood" successes of his life. But the growing, deepening faith he shares and his compassion for others show a layer of a man truly working to follow his Faith and share along the way.
A young man overcoming odds, displaying maturity at a young age and a sense of responsibility toward others that has grown throughout his life. He shares successes, failures and ugly sins in an attempt to convey his testimony to God.
